Márai statue in Kosice

Few Slovaks know that one of the greatest ever Hungarian and European writers of the 20th century, humanist and philosopher, SándorMárai was born in Košice. This giant statue is located at the intersection of Mäsiarska and Zbrojničná Street and its habitus –pensive Márai sitting opposite an empty chair - is to evoke what was characteristic for this writer: internal dialogue, reflection on the important issues of life.
