Bojnice Castle

Rate it Thanks for rating

In the picturesque environs of Bojnice Forest Park stands a romantic castle, just as if it came out of a fairy tale. No wonder it is one of the most visited landmarks in the whole of Central Europe. Nowadays, Bojnice Castle serves as a museum, as count Pálffy, one of its last owners, wanted it. In addition to beautiful interiors furnished with period furniture, visitors can go and see a beautiful karst cave with stalactite formations located under the castle, or an exquisite park with a linden reportedly planted by Matúš Čák Trenčiansky (Máté Csák of Trencsén) seven hundred years ago. This linden, under which many joyous celebrations held by the legendary Matthias Corvinus took place, was named after him, and is probably the oldest living tree in Slovakia. Located in the castle park, there is also a highly popular ZOO with numerous exotic animal species. All of this makes Bojnice a truly unique place for a vacation.
