Dežöfi Manor House in Hanušovce nad Topľou

Rate it Thanks for rating

The seventeenth century Renaissance-Baroque Dežöfi Manor House is Hanušovce nad Topľou’s most beautiful historic landmark. One of the prominent features of this attracting building is its robust guard towers. Moreover, the building houses Hanušovce’s Regional History Museum with attractive exhibitions focused on historical interior design and furniture, and also on the history and natural conditions of Vranov region. Near the manor house stands the Kňašinský House that houses the Regional Museum’s ethnographic exposition titled The Spirit of the Nation. This exhibition offers an opportunity to explore the material culture and the customs of the region also through first-hand experience by taking part in period crafting workshops focused for example on weaving or spinning. Not far from the manor house in Hanušovce stands another, and smaller, manor house – the Šóšov Manor House – a fairly run down national historic landmark whose interior is not open to the public, but the exterior is available at all times.
