The medieval Gothic church of St. Šimon and Judah was built in the 14th century and is very famous for the painting of the Virgin Mary Guardian, which is still there. The same picture was printed also on the reverse side of the thousand-crown banknote. In the church there are other interesting paintings, for example, Late-Gothic painting of the Madonna with Apostles, St. Peter and Paul that is considered to be the largest medieval painting preserved in Slovakia.
