Cathedral of St. Martin

Rate it Thanks for rating

The majestic Gothic Cathedral of St. Martin is one of main dominant features of Bratislava. The church was a coronation cathedral of Hungarian kings for almost 300 years. Today it reminds an imitation of Hungarian royal crown on top of the 85 m high tower. In one of four chapels of the cathedral there are remains of Patriarch of Alexandria and St. John the Merciful. According to the legend Turkish sultan gave the remains to the king Matthias Corvinus. The Cathedral of St. Martin is a national cultural monument and is open to general public at fixed times out of Mass.
